O Tentilhão 

Fringillia coelebs madeirensis (Sharpe 1888)

Subespécie endémica da Macaronésia, o tentilhão pode ser observado em grande parte da floresta laurissilva da Madeira. Com 14-16cm de comprimento, apresenta duas barras alares brancas, peito rosado e dorso azul-esverdeado. O macho tem uma coloração mais vibrante que a fêmea. 

O tentilhão nidifica entre os meses de abril e julho. A fêmea constrói um ninho em forma de copo onde deposita quatro ou cinco ovos. O período de incubação tem a duração de 12 a 15 dias. Após o nascimento, o macho auxilia na alimentação das crias.

Subspecies of the common chaffinch, the Madeiran chaffinch is endemic to the Portuguese Island of Madeira, where it is known as a Tentilhão. This small bird can be seen in great part of the laurissilva forest.. Measuring between 14-16cm, It has a pinkish breast, bluish-grey cap and greenish-brown back. The male is more brightly coloured than the female

The Madeiran chaffinch nests between April and July. The female builds a cup-shape nest in which she lays a clutch of four or five eggs  and which she alone incubates for 12–15 days before they hatch. The male helps to feed the chicks.
